It depends, not all real estate agents are equal. It’s a known fact that roughly about 10-20% of agents make 80-90% of the sales. The most successful real estate agents are full time and invest money in marketing your home. Quality agents will reinvest their commission to sell your home faster. They successfully know how to utilize social media and search engines to find you a buyer. They are professional and are always available or have a backup when needed. It is very hard to provide all these services at a discounted rate, it takes time and money to sell a home. At a discounted rate, that is less money to reinvest in the marketing of your home.
If the sole benefit an agent brings to a table is a discounted commission, ask yourself why. Is the agent desperate for business or unqualified? Do you want to work with a desperate agent? What about an unqualified agent?
